維多利亞時代的英國紳士都喜歡菸斗，菸斗吹出來的菸被風一吹就散掉了，pipe dream「菸斗夢」就是像菸一樣虛無縹緲的夢想，也就是白日夢，行不通。

例句：Her plans are not realistic. They'll never be more than a pipe dream. 她的計畫不切實際，它們只能是白日夢。◇
