如果你很餓，想吃泡麵，然後燒了一鍋水，盼著水趕快燒開，你會一遍又一遍地看水是不是已經開了，這個時候你會發現水好像永遠都不會燒開，所以a watched pot never boils跟中文的「心急吃不了熱豆腐」意思差不多。
